Sak Yant

(Return) Installation (2014)

SAK YANT (Return). This is a floating installation project made of 2D and 3D elements that I did in Montreal in October 2014. The installation is made of paper and cardboard (my usual mediums) and is all hand-made (hand-drawn illustrations, hand-cut pieces, etc.).
The main influence is a sacred tattoo practice in Thailand called Sak Yant. Several hundred hours were necessary to realize this project (as well as ART DECO installation, Signature and Z project) from sketching the design, making the 3D pieces, drawing the patterns and meticulously cutting the pieces to then proceed to the installation of this highly detailed universe.
Thanks to Charles-Étienne Pascal for his stunning photography work.
